The Hindley Bar & Grill – Autumn Menu Launch

Sticky Date Pudding with butterscotch sauce and double cream

We are still in awe of the results of the $12 Million Dollar revamp of the new HQ Complex in Hindley St and to top it all off Head Chef Shane Piercy has developed a brand new Autumn menu that showcases fresh local produce with an emphasis on grilled and wood oven dishes. We were lucky enough to be invited to the Eat & Tweet event by the beautiful ladies at Girl About Town and were spoilt with an amazing spread of shared dishes off the new Autumn menu.

To start off with with were served a selection of oysters, selection of arancini, 1/2 shell scallops and wood oven haloumi.

Selection Of Oysters

1/2 shell Harvey Bay scallops, wood oven baked with prosciutto butter

Wood oven baked Haloumi with sweetend currants and walnut

Even though we enjoyed all Entrees our favourite was the oven baked Haloumi. The sweetness of the currants with the crunchiness of the walnuts mixed together with the hot and melted Haloumi was just heavenly. We seriously considered taking the pan away so we could have it all!

Next we were served share plates of Mains with a selection of Pizzas, wood oven roasted free range 1/2 chicken, 6 hour slow cooked lam shoulder, 1kg rib eye with duck potatoes and roasted baby carrots.

The dishes did not only look great but also tasted amazing. We love Pizza so if we had to pick a favourite it would have to be that but for good reasons - the Pizzas are prepared using Caputo flour and San Marzano tomatoes. It took the team 3 months to perfect the dough to what it is today; an Italian style crust with a delicate texture.

Our second favourite was the Lamb shoulder. The meat was cooked to perfection as it was juicy and just fell off the bone - the perfect dish for those upcoming cool autumn nights.

As you can imagine we were pretty full at this point in time but there is always room for dessert, right?! Our finak round consisted of Sticky Date Pudding, Baked Lemon Tart and Crème Brûlée.

What a great finish to an absolutely amazing dinner! Our winner from the desserts was the Sticky Date Pudding. The sponge cake was warm and juicy and when dipped into the butterscotch sauce with a bit of the double cream just too good to even put into words.

We have to admit that our experience at The Hindley exceeded our expectations. Shane Piercy has been a qualified chef for over twenty years and has worked in some of Adelaide’s most reputable kitchens including the Lion Hotel, Public Caffe and The Sauce Restaurant in Dulwich and it clearly shows by the quality of food we were served on the night. We loved it so much we gathered a few friends together and went back the same week and there is no doubt in our minds that you too will love it just as much!

And oh, if you love any of the wines you are drinking on the night - grab yourselves a bottle to take home as The Hindley is also a licensed bottle shop! Seriously...can it get any better than this?
