With the winter season well and truly upon us, you may want to consider wearing your boots as you strut your way into Adelaide’s newest Western-themed restaurant and bar. Adorned in timber / wooden floors, a neon sign saying “Always good, never bad, never ugly” light up the cozy and intimate space that overlooks the bar and kitchen.
Spaghetti Western on King William Street has become one of the hottest spots in town, where wining and dining (and cocktail-ing) have become the forte for a good night out - be it an all girls night, a night on the town with the boys, or simply put - two people catching up for a drink after a long day / week.
Last week, we went along to check out the cocktails that are currently on offer at Spaghetti Western Saloon & Bar and while the choices are limited, they certainly deliver in taste and presentation. Assistant venue manager and award-winning flair bartender Steve Threlfo has clearly brought his Italian-American inspired boozy concoctions to life, which are bound to provide a bit of something for everyone.
We kicked off the night with the Americano - a vermouth and lemonade cocktail, which had the much-needed tang to make one feel buzzed for the Thursday night celebrations that awaited us. A drink that possesses a strong and bold character, it was no surprise that patrons went for seconds.
Towards the end of the night, we were offered the classic Negroni, which whether you like it or not, had this bold taste that made you appreciate the burst of flavours that make up this drink. A beautiful combination of Bombay Sapphire Gin, Campari, and Riserva Speciale Rubino Vermouth, this drink will make you feel like you’re out on the town and partying on the streets of Italy itself!
The star of the night, however, was the Salted Caramel Martini. A Martini glass laced with salted caramel, cupping a generous mix of Absolut vanilla vodka, Frangelico, and Ke Kuyper Creme de Cafe. This is a seriously silky and smooth drink that is bound to warm up the soul during the cooler months. Having a big sweet tooth as well, it is no surprise that I happily ordered this drink in rounds (to the merry delight of the bartender, I bet)!
Other drinks on offer include the Espresso Martini, the Bellini Carafes (with maschio Treviso Prosecco and Peach Puree, Aperol Spritz Carafes), and the IPA Beer Kettles - all on offer for about $20.
Spaghetti Western also specializes in offering a hearty Italian cuisine where delicious flavours are guaranteed - meatballs on Mondays, anyone? Customers can also enjoy buckets of meatballs with tomato, parmesan, and herb bread crumbles for just $30.
For food, we sampled a variety of dishes. First up were the mushroom arancini balls, which were packed with a creamy filling of mushroom and cheese, enveloped with a crunchy texture on the outside. Among other dishes, we also tried their delicious meatballs, which melted in my mouth from the first bite. Simply put - bellissimo!
With so much on their plate (pun intended), you can’t go wrong with the exciting drink and food specials, coupled with live entertainment by DJ Krispy (every Friday) here - so next time you’re looking for a place to knock off after work, why not give this place a go?
Special thanks to the team at Spaghetti Western for their hospitality and to Girl About Town for the invite to this event.
