Lord of the Fries

Lord of the Fries has finally arrived in Adelaide! What started off as a food van then to a bricks and mortar store in Melbourne is now an Australia wide phenomenon. Owners Mandy and Mark met while living in Taiwan. They both had a love for fries and together with Mark's brother Sam created what is known today as Lord of the Fries.

Adelaide's first store is owned and run by husband and wife team Jay and Swati Pate. Having been in the Adelaide restaurant scene for a few years now it was Jay's dream to own his own restaurant where he could provide vegan food to our fair city. Both Jay and Swati had a love for Lord of the Fries and campaigned for a long time to open one in Adelaide. Finding the right location had its delays when finally a store in Hindley St presented itself as the perfect fit and now Adelaide has the first 100% vegan Lord of the Fries store!

Tempting Palates were invited to the official media launch and even though we had tried the fries in Melbourne we were keen to try some of the other menu options. Of course there were fries a plenty and they are as tasty as their reputation stands. We tried the shoe string and the sweet potato fries and couldn't get enough!

The burger range is just as tasty and we were treated to mini versions of the menu range. Although they have "Chick'n" and "Phish" options, all burgers are vegan and they don't skimp on taste either!

We were lucky enough to sample the Parma Burger which consists of a veggie chick’n patty, Napoli sauce, vegan cheese, soy bacon, diced onion and ketchup. After biting into this beauty we didn't even realise we missed the taste of meat. The Parma Burger is our pick on the list.

Some of the sides we tried were the crispy Onion Rings and (faux chicken) Nuggets. While on this occasion we didn't try the Hot Dog options, it gives us another reason to visit Lord of the Fries again!

Just before we left we tried samples of "Vego" a Vegan Hazelnut Chocolate bar which is also available for purchase.
