We were recently invited to Ginza Japanese Restaurant at Unley to try their new menu. Having been a recommendation from friends, we visited several times before so this wasn't our first time to Ginza. Each experience has been excellent and this time was no exception.
Ginza Japanese Restaurant has always been a great dining experience and now with their new menu it's time to revisit and enjoy more of their fresh and flavoursome Japanese food. All the dishes we tried were healthy and light and we also tried some delicious Japanese beverages. If you need to quench your thirst, you can choose something from their variety of Japanese beers and ciders.
Our Japanese feast started with the Entree size Sashimi consisting of 3 kinds of fresh sashimi - Salmon, Kingfish and Tuna. Each slice was fresh and with each bite soft, silky and smooth. It really did melt in our mouths.
The Beef Tataki was one of our favourite dishes on the night. It was so light and refreshing making it a perfect spring dish with sweet and tangy flavours. The addition of the Asian citrus fruit yuzu gave it a sour, yet fruity taste while the miso sauce gave it the salty element. We didn't want this dish to end.
The Aburi Mackerel with torched vinegared and yuzumiso sauce was seasoned similar to the Beef Tataki but with a distinct seafood flavour.
The Roasted Duck Breast with potato puree and kochi yuzu sauce was tender and cooked well. The duck was flavoursome and the peppery taste was a nice surprise. The potato puree was creamy and velvety. We love our mash so scooping it with the duck meat was a treat!
The Wagyu Sirloin Steak with wasabi and beef jus was our standout dish. The meat was so tender - it was a meat lovers delight. The beef jus was sweet and tangy and we couldn't help but wipe the plate clean. The accompanying potato puree was also creamy and velvety. This Japanese take on steak and mash is simply perfect!
For dessert we had Matcha(Green Tea) Ice Cream, red bean paste and dried lotus root. This is a simple dessert with beautiful flavours and textures.. The flavours of the green tea ice cream worked well with the crispy dried lotus root. It's not an overly sweet dessert but the red bean paste gives it a little sweetness to satisfy.
The Kochiyuzu and Orange Parfait is a lovely refreshing dessert with yuzu sorbet, fresh orange yuzu jam sponge served with yuzu ice cream. It has a tangy tropical flavour with all the bitter, sour and sweet elements.
As expected, we once again enjoyed our Ginza Japanese Restaurant experience. The food was fresh, the service was attentive and friendly. Ginza also have a section at the back that caters for an all you can eat BBQ buffet. While we haven't tried that yet there were many customers dining for the buffet on the night.
