Adelaide has seen an emergence of the small bar scene in a few short years and we are benefiting from a healthy and vibrant late night scene. One bar that seems to be one of those bars with little fanfare is Mr Goodbar and that's how owner Goran Dedic likes it! The bar has an underground vibe and leaves you intrigued on what it has to offer. Kind of like the place the ultra cool Rat Pack used to hang out at in New York city.
With such a vibe of cool and chic reminiscent of the 1950's era, Mr Goodbar oozes charm of a bygone era with a modern era feel. While there's no Sinatra or Dean Martin types frequenting at Mr Goodbar, you can just imagine it when you sit down in one of their booths sipping on a whiskey or fancy cocktail.
Goran's first venture into owning a bar is fulfilling a boyhood dream. When the opportunity of securing the venue came up he jumped at the chance. With a history of housing the former Adelaide Fruit and Vegetable Markets, this former IT Consulting office is now Mr Goodbar.
"Mr Goodbar is more than a bar. On the 2nd of July we will be launching the Isle of Jura Session's with DJ Kevin Griffiths" Kevin who is a "self confessed vinyl addict and he will be spinning some cool tunes every Saturday night from 10:00pm to 2:00am", says Goran. Spinning records for over 20 years, Kevin has played major gigs in European cities such as Ibiza, Berlin, Paris and even through Asian countries like Japan and Korea. He will present his mix of Disco, Dub Step, Funk, Soul and Chicago House just to name a few.
If you want a great night out, pop into Mr. Goodbar and let the bar staff mix you one of their signature drinks like a Mr Goodbar Old Fashioned or an Ebenezer Pleaser (named after the nearby street). These guys are passionate about making the perfect drink. In fact, it's like a religion to them! Now with DJ Kevin Griffiths spinning some records every Saturday night, Mr Goodbar is a place you should put on your list of places to check out!
