Bing Boy are a South Australian owned franchise eatery and they have just launched their new health conscious menu. Owner and Managing Director of Bing Boy, Ming Liang Ma, together with Food Consultant Bill Petropoulos from Billy and Co. designed and created this new menu. It consists of fresh local produce whilst concentrating on healthy options for those with dietary requirements or intolerances. Tempting Palates were invited to the launch at the West Lakes store to discover some exciting new menu items!
Bing Boy was started in 2011 with the concept of bringing Urban Asian street food to Australia like the popular Bings. What's a Bing you ask? Well, to describe it simply it's a traditional thin wheat omelette wrap filled with various ingredients known as a Jian Bing. Traditionally eaten for lunch, bings are popular in China and now we too can enjoy them!
Bing Boy's new health conscious menu now also features gluten free Bings. There is the choice of BBQ pork, various types of marinated Chicken, Prawn, Smoked Salmon and Peking Duck making it a hard choice deciding which Bing to order. Along with classic Chinese flavoured Bings, you can also choose from other Asian inspired menu items like Satay Chicken or Korean style Bulgogi Beef with kimchi. There are also vegetarian options with vegetables or tofu.
Always trying to bring you options to satisfy your hunger, Bing Boy now also offer dumplings. Everyone loves dumplings and these are hand made fresh in store daily. Bing Boy's dumplings can be ordered steamed or fried and are made on the hotplate.
A perfect fried dumpling is having the contrast of it being soft on top and the crust on the bottom and these are exactly that. Soft, juicy and crunchy with fresh flavoursome ingredients. We tried all the options and were most impressed with the Zucchini and Egg dumplings. You can also choose from Pork, Chicken or Beef dumplings.
The most exciting new menu item is the Bing in a Bowl. If a crepe style wrap isn't your thing then you can still have a bing but in a salad version. With fresh ingredients and a concentrated level of real foods, this as healthy as you can get for fast "healthy" food. Instead of the wrap there is the inclusion of brown rice which keeps with the health conscious directive. You can choose from Peking Duck, BBQ Pork, Tofu, Satay or Teriyaki Chicken. Definitely something for everyone.
To wash down all those delicious menu items Bing Boy has a range of smoothies and teas. We sampled the myTea with hibiscus and hawthorn flowers, tropical dried fruit and fresh strawberries. The best part of this tea is that there is no added sugar. All the sweetness comes from the natural juices of the fruit. This is one great tasting chilled tea.
If you have never tried Bing Boy then this is a good time for your first try. There are the classic options along with all the new health conscious menu items to choose from. Bing Boy have developed a great menu with food options for everyone - whether it be lower calorie items or looking after customers with special dietary requirements whilst not compromising on flavour and taste. You better give these (Bing) Boys a try and pick your own favorite off their extended menu!
