Nghi Ngan Quan

Despite the move from Ferryden Park, Nghi Ngan Quan at its new location 65 Woodville Road, Woodville is still a hustling and bustling place. You still need to either make a booking or turn up earlier as getting a table can be a bit of a wait. But don't worry it's definitely worth the wait.

The renovated old bank building doesn't automatically make you think "Vietnamese restaurant" but once you walk in you can feel the vibe of a much younger, more modern and fresher Nghi Ngan Quan.  We waited by the bar for 30 minutes but luckily for us we arrived early so by the time we were seated at our table it was only 6.30pm.

We decided on ordering the Vietnamese Beef Salad, the Clay Pot Duck with Ginger, the Stir Fried Garlic Prawns and the Garlic Tossed Chinese Broccoli.

The beef salad was a stand out. The beef was marinated with a lovely sweet and sour flavour and the chilli added another kick to the taste. Together with lots of fresh vegetables and the distinct flavours from the celery and coriander, this salad was light, tasty and delicious.

The prawns had a lovely creamy garlic sauce and the vegetables consisting of carrots, celery, snow peas and capsicum were cooked just right; soft but still having that perfect crunch.

We also loved the clay pot duck. The duck was cooked to perfection. It was so tender it just fell off the bone. The lovely ginger flavour was evident throughout the dish and enhanced the taste of the duck.

The Chinese Broccoli with the tasty garlic flavour was also nice and crunchy. Simply perfect!

We finished the night off with a Vietnamese coffee. The condensed milk in the coffee was sweet enough that we didn't need to have dessert this time!

If you loved Nghi Ngan Quan at Ferryden Park, then you will still love it at its new location in Woodville. As always - the service was friendly, efficient, fast and the food full of flavour with excellent value for money.
